This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout. Participation in Vermont's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. There is no party registration in Vermont. After marking their ballot, a voter presents the ballot to election clerks, publicly declaring the party they are submitting. This declaration becomes part of the public record. Tuesday 5 March 2024 (presumably): Vermont Primary. Hours 5:00a-7:00p EST (1000-0000 UTC). Polls may open as early as 5:00a and no later than 10:00a as set by the Board of Civil Authority. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.
16 of 24 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Vermont Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.
