"If ... a political party has only one presidential candidate, neither the name of the candidate nor the names of the candidate's delegates shall be printed on the ballot." [Florida Statute 103.101, paragraph 4]

Participation in Florida's delegate selection process is open to registered Democrats.

Tuesday 19 March 2024: Florida Primary. Hours reportedly 7:00a-7:00p EDT (1100-2300 UTC) / 7:00a-7:00p CDT (1200-0000 UTC). Relatively small portions of this state are in CT and so the vast majority of the polls are closed by the time indicated ET. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Closed Primary.

224 of 253 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of today's Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level. Here is how the Democratic Proportional Delegate Allocation Math works.

  • 146 district delegates are to be pledged proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the State's 27 congressional districts.
  • 78 delegates are to be pledged to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide.
    • 49 at-large National Convention delegates.

Saturday 20 April 2024: Post primary Congressional District Caucuses meet to elect National Convention Congressional District delegates according to the results of the primary.

 

Saturday 1 June 2024: State Convention.

National Convention Pledged PLEO and At-Large delegates are elected by a quorum of National Convention District Level delegates according to the results of the primary.

The remaining 29 National Convention delegates consist of

  • 29 Unpledged PLEO delegates:
    • 19 Democratic National Committee members.
    • 8 Members of Congress (0 Senators and 8 Representatives).
    • 0 Governors.
    • 2 Distinguished Party Leaders (former DNC Chair Joe Andrew, former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, former House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, former DNC Chairwoman and Member of Congress Debbie Wasserman Schultz is counted as a Member of Congress).

These 29 delegates and will go to the Democratic National Convention officially "Unpledged".
