Circa April 2024 (date not set): Pre-primary Caucus. Call to order at 10am EDT, Adjournment at 2 pm EDT. Delegate candidates who wish to be slated by Presidential Preference for the District delegate positions are elected at today's Pre-primary caucus. Statements of candidacy by Presidential Preference must be filed with the State Committee. Delegate candidates who wish to be At-Large and Pledged PLEO delegate positions must file a statement of candidacy by Presidential Preference with the State Committee.

Circa May 2024 (date not set): State Party Committee selects District Delegates at the John A. Wilson Building. If a presidential candidate qualifies to receive District delegates at the primary, but failed to slate a sufficient number of delegates at the pre-primary caucus, the members of the Democratic State Committee shall select the additional delegates. National Convention District delegates are elected by the State Party Committee according to the results of the Primary. |
This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout. Participation in the District of Columbia's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Voters are permitted register on election day and declare their Party preference on their Voter Registration Card which is a public record. Tuesday 4 June 2024 (presumably): District of Columbia Primary. Hours reportedly 7:00a-8:00p EDT (1100-0000 UTC). Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Closed Primary.
17 of 48 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's District of Columbia Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the municipal or district wide level.
