2 February 2024: The Wisconsin Supreme Court put Dean Phillips on the Wisconsin Democratic presidential primary ballot as the Wisconsin law says that candidates recognized in the news media should be on presidential primary ballot. Phillips v Wisconsin Election Commission 2024AP000138-OA.


   

Wisconsin does not have voter registration by party. Voters can register to vote at the polls on election day. Voters may request the ballot of any party but for one party only.

"Uncommitted" appears on the ballot under the choice labeled "Uninstructed Delegation". Write-in candidates are allowed.

Tuesday 2 April 2024: Wisconsin Primary. Hours 7:00a-8:00p CDT (1200-0100 UTC). Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.

82 of 95 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Wisconsin Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.   • 54 district delegates are to be pledged proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the State's 8 congressional districts.
  • In addition, 28 delegates are to be pledged to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide.
    • 18 at-large National Convention delegates
    • 10 Pledged PLEOs

Sunday 28 April 2024: First tier County Caucuses elect delegates to the second tier Congressional District caucuses. Hours begin at 2:00p CDT (1900 UTC).

 

Sunday 19 May 2024: Second tier Congressional District Caucuses elect National Convention District-level delegates according to the results of the primary. Hours begin at 2:00p CDT (1900 UTC).

 

Saturday 8 June 2024: Administrative Committee Meeting and State Convention.

National Convention Pledged PLEO and At-Large delegates are elected by the Administrative Committee according to the results of the primary.

The remaining 13 National Convention delegates consist of

  • 13 Unpledged PLEO delegates:
    • 9 Democratic National Committee members.
    • 3 Members of Congress (1 Senator and 2 Representatives).
    • 1 Governor.
    • 0 Distinguished Party Leaders.

These 13 delegates and will go to the Democratic National Convention officially "Unpledged".
