This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout. Participation in Kentucky's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Kentucky holds closed party primaries. Voters must identify party preference at the time of registration (at least 29 days before the election) to be eligible to vote in the primary election. If the voter is already registered in Kentucky, but not registered as a Democrat, the voter must register as a Democrat by 31 December 2019 to participate in the Democratic Primary.
