Participation in Kansas's delegate selection process is open to voters who wish to participate as a Democrat. To participate in the Party-Run primary, voters must be qualified to vote in the next general election and registered as a Democrat. Voters and may register at the Party-Run Primary. Provisions exist for advance and absentee voting. Page 3 of the plan states: "The Party-Run Primary will use paper ballots with ranked choice voting; (Rule 2.H.3)". Voters will rank presidential candidates (1st through 5th choice) on their ballots. If a candidate receives fewer than 15% of all first-choice votes, votes will be reallocated to the next choice. The process is repeated until only those candidates with 15% or more of the votes remain. Saturday 4 May 2024 (presumably): Kansas Party-Run Primary. Hours reportedly 10:00a-4:00p CDT (1500-2100 UTC) / 10:00a-4:00p MDT (1600-2200 UTC). Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Closed Primary.
33 of 39 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of today's Party-Run Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at the congressional district level or statewide level. Saturday 11 May 2024 (presumably): Senate District Conventions. Conventions convene between 10a and 2p in each of Kansas's 40 State Senate Districts to elect delegates to the Congressional District conventions. |
Saturday 18 May 2024 (presumably): District Conventions. District Conventions convene between 10a and 12 noon to elect 22 Democratic National Convention district-level delegates according to the results of the Party-Run Primary. |
