Participation in Washington State's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Participation will be by mail in ballot. For a ballot to be counted in the Democratic primary, the voter must subscribe to a declaration that the voter is a Democrat and that their participation is a matter of public record. Washington has same day voter registration and does not have party registration.

Tuesday 12 March 2024: Washington Primary. Hours end at 8:00p PDT (0300 UTC). Washington votes by mail. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, or dropped off in a designated ballot box by 8 p.m. local time on Election Day. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Closed Primary.

92 of 111 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.   • 60 district delegates are to be pledged proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the State's 10 congressional districts.
  • 32 delegates are to be pledged to presidential contenders based on the the statewide primary results.

Saturday 6 April 2024: Legislative District Caucuses. Hours begin at 10:00a PDT (1700 UTC). Legislative district caucuses meet to elect delegates to the Congressional District caucuses and State Convention.

 

Saturday 18 May 2024: Congressional District Caucuses. National Convention District Delegates are elected virtually based on the results of the of the Primary.

 

Sunday 9 June 2024: State Central Committee Meeting.

National Convention Pledged PLEO and At-Large delegates are elected by the State Party Committee. These delegates are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the Primary.

The remaining 19 National Convention delegates consist of

  • 19 Unpledged PLEO delegates:
    • 8 Democratic National Committee members.
    • 10 Members of Congress (2 Senators and 8 Representatives).
    • 1 Governor.
    • 0 Distinguished Party Leaders.

These 19 delegates and will go to the Democratic National Convention officially "Unpledged".
