2020 Presidential Primaries, Caucuses, and Conventions
The delegate selection processes herein, along with any and all dates and delegate counts associated therewith, are unofficial and based on either (1) information obtained from either Major Party, (2) Presidential Primary dates established by currently-effective State statute, or- where the foregoing information could not be obtained- (3) the state's 2016 delegate selection process and associated dates adjusted to the corresponding dates in 2020.

Delegate Selection Plan from the Democratic Party of Montana. This election coincides with the South Dakota, New Mexico, and New Jersey primaries.
This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout.
Participation in Montana's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats.
Tuesday 2 June 2020: Montana Primary. Hours 7:00a-8:00p MDT (1300-0200 UTC). A polling place with less than 400 registered voters must be open at least from noon to 8 p.m. or until all registered electors have voted. There is no party registration in Montana. Individuals who vote in a primary election are given all the parties' ballots, and can choose in private which party ballot they wish to vote. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.
16 of 22 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Montana Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level. Thursday 4 June 2020: County Caucuses meet to elect delegates to the State Convention according to the results of the primary.
Saturday 6 June 2020: State Convention
