TheGreenPapers.com Tuesday 14 May 2019: SPECIAL U.S. House GOP PRIMARY in NORTH CAROLINA's 9th Congressional District
by TheGreenPapers.com Staff

This Primary is for the purpose of nominating REPUBLICAN Party candidates for the SPECIAL U.S. HOUSE ELECTION tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 10 September 2019 to fill the vacancy caused by the North Carolina State Board of Elections voting unanimously to call a new election because of irregularities in Bladen and Robeson Counties during the campaign for the 6 November 2018 General Election involving requests for absentee ballots, unreturned absentee ballots, and individuals who illegally collected absentee ballots.

If no candidate in either Party's Primary receives at least 30% of the vote, the two leading vote-getters emerging from said Primary proceed to a runoff on Tuesday 10 September 2019, in which case the Special Election itself will be moved back to Tuesday 5 November 2019.

The Polling hours are 6:30 AM [1030 GMT] to 7:30 PM [2330 GMT]; however, in extraordinary circumstances, a county's Board of Elections may direct that the polls remain open until 8:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time [0030 GMT].

Up till now, I have, at least for the most part, avoided- ever since Donald Trump was first elected 45th President of the United States- the proverbial "800 pound gorilla" (or, perhaps [given potential political, even future electoral, effects on the Republican Party], "the elephant" might be the better metaphor) in the political/electoral "room"...
