Oklahoma is a closed primary state. Only registered voters of a political party may vote to select their party's nominees, however, parties are able to allow Independent voters to participate in its primaries and runoffs.
If no candidate receives at least 50% of the vote in the primary, a runoff will be held between the top two vote-getters. If a candidate is unopposed in the primary or general election, that office does not appear on the ballot. Oklahoma does not permit write-ins. 2026 Candidate Filing Information and Dates and Deadlines from the Oklahoma State Election Board. Candidate Filing from the Oklahoma State Election Board.
