  • Congressman Michael Richard "Mike" Pompeo (Republican, Kansas CD 4) resigned on 23 January 2017 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate for CIA Director in the Trump Administration.
  • Congressman Xavier Becerra (Democratic, California CD 34) resigned on 24 January 2017 after appointed as California Attorney General by California Governor Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown, Jr.
  • Congressman Thomas Edmunds "Tom" Price (Republican, Georgia CD 6) resigned on 10 February 2017 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human in the Trump Administration.
  • Congressman John Michael "Mick" Mulvaney (Republican, South Carolina CD 5) resigned on 16 February 2017 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Trump Administration.
  • Congressman Ryan K. Zinke (Republican, Montana At-Large) resigned on 1 March 2017 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Secretary of the Interior in the Trump Administration.
  • Congressman Ron Estes (Republican, Kansas CD 4) was elected on 11 April 2017 in a special election and sworn on 25 April 2017.
  • Congressman Greg Gianforte (Republican, Montana, At-Large) was elected on 25 May 2017 in a special election and sworn on 21 June 2017.
  • Congressman Jimmy Gomez (Democratic, California CD 34) was elected on 6 June 2017 in a special election and sworn on 11 July 2017.
  • Congressman Karen Christine Handel (Democratic, Georgia CD 6) was elected on 20 June 2017 in a special election and sworn on 26 June 2017.

  • Congressman John Curtis (Republican, Utah House CD 3) was elected on 7 November 2017 in a special election and sworn on 13 November 2017.
  • Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (Democratic, Michigan House CD 13) resigned on 5 December 2017.
  • Congressman Congressman Trent Franks (Republican, Arizona CD 8) resigned on 8 December 2017.

Congressman Patrick J. "Pat" Tiberi (Republican), who was first elected in 2000, announced his resignation on 19 October 2017, "Today, it is with a humble and thankful heart that I announce I will not be seeking reelection. While I have not yet determined a final resignation date, I will be leaving Congress by January 31, 2018." On 4 January 2018, he announced his resignation effective 15 January 2018.
On Friday, 5 January 2018, Ohio Governor John Richard Kasich (Republican) called a special election for U.S. House CD 12 on 7 August 2018. The special primary is 8 May 2018 (concurrent with the regular primary). The primary filing deadline is 7 February 2018 and the independent filing deadline is 7 May 2018.
7 August 2018: state Senator Troy Balderson (Republican) is elected in a special election.

1 September 2017: Congressman James Frederick "Jim" Bridenstine (Republican) was nominated by President Trump to be Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
6 November 2018: Kevin R. Hern (Republican) won the General Election and was sworn on 13 November.

14 December 2017: Media reports state Congressman Randolph Blake "Blake" Farenthold will not seek re-election. The Congressman made the decision after the filing closed and will be on the March 2018 primary ballot. The Republican Party has filed suit Civil Case No. 1:17-cv-01167 in Federal Court (Austin) to get his name removed from the ballot. The Democratic Party is also suing Civil Case No. 1:17-cv-01186 but apparently dropped their case after the court decided that Congressman Farenthold would not be on the ballot.
6 April 2018: Congressman Randolph Blake "Blake" Farenthold (Republican) resigned following concerns he used $84,000 in government funds to settle a sexual harassment claim.
24 April 2018: Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) scheduled a 30 June Special Election to fill the remainder of former Congressman Farenthold's term which ends in January 2019. The filing deadline is Friday 27 April. All candidates, regardless of party affiliation, run on the 30 June ballot. If no one receives a majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters compete in a September runoff.
30 June 2018: Michael J. Cloud is elected in a Special Election.
