re: the Governor's raceMedia reports indicate that Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz has announced, on Wednesday 3 November, that- per completed unofficial returns- Dan Malloy [Democrat] has been elected Governor of CONNECTICUT with enough of a margin (slightly more than 3000 votes) to avoid an automatic recount (triggered only if the margin is less than 2000 votes). However, the campaign of Tom Foley [Republican] begs to differ. In addition, media outlets have- as of the evening of 3 November 2010 (and despite the Secretary's announcement of earlier in the day)- rescinded their earlier calls of Malloy as the winner of this race (the latest media-based tally, with less than 2% of the precincts still out, has Tom Foley in the lead with around a 9000 vote margin). UPDATE On Thursday 4 November, Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz said she did not yet have complete vote tallied from Bridgeport (a Democratic Party stronghold and, thus, likely to be heavily for Malloy). Media reports indicate that, with partial numbers from Bridgeport, Malloy has a lead of more than 6000 votes (the margin in those precincts in Bridgeport reported to the media thus far was more than 14000 in favor of Malloy, thereby wiping out the nearly 9000 vote lead for Foley Statewide reported in media tallies as indicated above in this Red Zone). Foley is not conceding and his campaign has, instead, hinted at legal action to prevent a Malloy victory from being certified; meanwhile, the CT GOP has asked- on its own website- for volunteers to help in a possible recount (with the likely margin being what it appears it will be [rather close to the 11000 vote margin Malloy's campaign originally claimed], this recount would have to be paid for by Foley's own campaign: it would not be automatic). further UPDATE As of Friday 5 November, Malloy appears to have won the Gubernatorial Election. But Foley is not yet conceded, waiting for the official certification by Secretary of State Bysiewicz later this month (in order to see if an automatic recount might yet be triggered) and then, if not, to decide if legal action might yet be taken to contest the result (based on possible "irregularities" re: Bridgeport's reporting its returns to the State). The Green Papers, however, has now called this race for Malloy. Conventions are held by the Democratic and Republican Parties prior to the primary. Primaries are held for when a nomination is contested. Candidates must receive 15% or more support at the Convention or gather petition signatures to get onto the primary ballot. 10 August 2010 Primary results from a media source and returns from an official source. 2 November 2010 |

When available, we post each candidate's FEC identification number, the date of their most recently filed Report of Receipts and Disbursements, their "Tot" [Total Receipts (contributions received or what came in: FEC Form 3, Line 16, Column B)] and their "Dsb" [Total Disbursements (expenditures or what was spent: FEC Form 3, Line 23, Column B)].
