27 December 2018: Governor-elect and State Superintendent Anthony Steven "Tony" Evers announced his intention to appoint Assistant State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor as the new Public Instruction Superintendent following his oath of office on 7 January 2019.
7 January 2019: Public Instruction Superintendent Anthony Steven "Tony" Evers resigned upon taking the oath of office having won the Governor's chair in 2018. He was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2013 and 2017.
7 January 2019: Carolyn Stanford-Taylor is appointed Public Instruction Superintendent.
6 April 2021: Jill Underly is first elected.
