MONTANA Republican County Committee CAUCUSES

Tuesday 5 February 2008

Each County Republican Central Committee convenes for the purpose of holding a Presidential Candidate Preference Caucus. All 25 of Montana's delegates to the Republican National Convention are pledged to the candidate receiving the most votes statewide in today's caucuses. (NOTE: This is not a delegate distribution event open to the ordinary voter: only "credentialed voters"- that is: Republicans in Party leadership positions or Republican elective officeholders- may participate).

Tuesday 5 February 2008 - Each County Republican Central Committee convenes to hold a Presidential Candidate Preference Caucus.

  • Approximately 2,262 Republicans in leadership positions are eligible to vote in today's caucuses. The list includes voting members of the State Executive Committee, elected County Central Committee officers, elected or appointed Precinct Men and Women, incumbent Republican members of the Montana House of Representatives and Montana State Senate, incumbent Republican members of the PSC, and incumbent Republican officeholders in county, state, and Federal offices.

All 25 of Montana's delegates to the National Convention are bound to the candidate receiving the most votes statewide in today's caucus.

The delegates are bound to vote for the Caucus winner on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention. The winning candidate is allowed to release the delegates to a different candidate.

 

Tuesday 3 June 2008: Advisory Presidential Primary. Today's primary has no affect on the allocation of National Convention delegates.

Ron Paul and John McCain will appear on the ballot.
