MASSACHUSETTS Republican PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARYTuesday 5 February 2008Certified returns from an official source. 40 of 43 delegates to the Republican National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Massachusetts Presidential Primary: 40 delegates allocated proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates.
Each Congressional District is allocated 3 National Convention Delegates. The Allocation Committee determined that the 4 Congressional districts that McCain had his highest percentage of the vote in-- CDs 1, 4, 8, and 9-- (whether he carried the district or not) would choose 2 McCain delegates and 1 Romney delegate. The remaining 6 CDs would choose 2 Romney delegates and 1 McCain delegate. Ten delegates are allocated statewide. The Allocation committee split the delegates 6 for Romney, 4 for McCain, thus equaling 22 and 18.
