Higgins (Democratic) announced he will resign in early February 2024 to become president of Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo. Media reports state he will resign 2 February 2024. 12 February 2024: Governor Kathy Hochul (Democratic) called a 30 April Special Election to fill this vacant US House seat.
