Tuesday 10 February 2004: 39 of Tennessee's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders in today's Tennessee Presidential Primary.

  • 27 district delegates, 3 from each of the 9 congressional districts, are to be allocated to the presidential contenders based on the primary results in that district.
  • 12 at-large delegates are to be allocated to the presidential contenders based on the primary results statewide.

In each district and statewide, a presidential contender receiving majority of the votes (more than 50%) will receive all of the National Convention delegates allocated to that contest. However, if no contender receives a majority of the vote, the delegates are to be allocated proportionally to the contentors. A mandatory 20 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.

Saturday 3 April 2004 - State Executive Committee meets to select 13 at large delegates.

3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Tennessee's Republican Party, will attend the convention as unpledged delegates by virtue of their position.
