The Popular Vote above is based on official returns from the 7 March Primary.

George Bush won the primary and will receive all 35 delegates.

Tuesday 7 March 2000: All 35 of Missouri's delegates to the Republican National Convention will be allocated to a presidential contender in today's Missouri Presidential Primary.

  • "The 35 National Convention delegates are to be allocated to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes in the primary statewide."

Saturday 18 March 2000: Republican Party Caucuses meet in each "local unit" (which could be a city, a ward of a larger city, a township or an election precinct at the sole discretion of the Republican Committee of the given county or equivalent [i.e. the independent City of St. Louis]). Each "Local Caucus" (as these first tier meetings are designated by the Missouri Republican Party) chooses the local unit's delegates to the Congressional District Convention for the congressional district of which the local unit is a part as well as the local unit's delegates to the State Convention.

  • "All caucuses delegates are pledged to vote for delegates (to the Republican National Convention) who support the winner of the Missouri Presidential Primary."

Saturday 22 April 2000: Republican Party Congressional District Conventions convene in each congressional district. As the delegates to the Missouri State Republican Convention have already been chosen, the sole business of the Congressional District Convention- insofar as the presidential campaign is concerned- is that of choosing the delegates to the Republican National Convention from the said congressional district.

  • "Each of Missouri's 9 congressional districts is assigned 3 National Convention delegates. Thus, a total of 27 district delegates will be chosen by these Congressional District Conventions. These 27 delegates to the Republican National Convention will be allocated to the the winner of the Missouri Presidential Primary."

Friday 16 June through Saturday 17 June 2000: The Missouri State Republican Convention meets. The State Convention chooses the remaining 8 at-large of Missouri's delegates (6 base at-large delegates plus 2 bonus delegates) to the Republican National Convention.

  • "These 8 at-large National Convention delegates to the Republican National Convention will be allocated to the the winner of the Missouri Presidential Primary."
