The Popular Vote above is based on official returns from the 10 March Primary.

Here's how we compute the delegate count:

  1. A candidate must receive 15% or more of the popular vote to qualify for delegates. Bush and McCain meet this requirement.
  2. The number of delegates = 40 × (candidate's popular vote) ÷ (total qualified popular vote) rounded to the nearest whole number.
  3. Bush: 28.1 = 40 × 116,853 ÷ ( 116,853 + 49,271)
  4. McCain: 11.9 = 40 × 49,271 ÷ ( 116,853 + 49,271)

Friday 10 March 2000: all 40 of Colorado's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Colorado Presidential Primary.

  • "40 delegates to the National Convention are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide. A 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at the statewide level."
