STATE OF NEW JERSEY
[what is now the State of NEW JERSEY was divided into two proprietary Colonies- 'East Jersey' and 'West Jersey'- in 1676, before the current types of Civil Divisions had been most fully established in each of these Colonies; in 1702, the twin Colonies were unified into a single royal Province of New Jersey, by which time there were already Primary (= the County) and Minor (= the Township) Civil Divisions in place in parts of this united Province]
