Participation in Delaware's delegate selection process is open to all voters who are registered to vote as Republicans.

Tuesday 24 April 2012: All 17 of Delaware's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes statewide in today's Delaware Presidential Primary.

  • The delegates are bound for the first ballot at the National Convention.
  • Delaware has 1 Congressional District so the CD vote = the statewide vote.

The 3 party leaders delegates (the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Delaware's Republican Party) will attend the National Convention by virtue of their position. They are however, bound to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes in the Presidential primary.

Saturday 28 April 2012: Delaware State Convention. The State Convention elects the National Convention delegates according to the results of the primary.

Notes:

On 27 July 2011, Governor Jack A. Markell (Democratic) signed SB 89. The bill moves the Presidential Primary from the 1st Tuesday in February to the 4th Tuesday in April and was sponsored by state Senator Michael S. Katz (Democratic) and state Representative Earl G. Jaques, Jr, (Democratic).
