Delegate Selection: Combined Selection [Proportional Primary with Caucus/Convention], Polling hours 8:00a MDT (1400 UTC) / 8:00a PDT (1500 UTC) to 8:00p MDT (0200 UTC) / 8:00p PDT (0300 UTC). Local option allows polling places to open at 7 AM. A sizable part of IDAHO is in PDT but, as the MDT section is the much more populated portion of the state, the networks consider that "most of the polls in IDAHO" are closed by 8 PM MDT. Prior to the Primary, the Republican party provides the Secretary of State with a list of delegates and alternates pledged to Presidential contenders. At the State Convention, the pledged delegates (who comprise 80% of the delegates and 80% of the alternates) are chosen are off this list according to the results of the primary. Tuesday 27 May 2008: 80% (24 of 29) of Idaho's delegates to the Republican National Convention are proportionally allocated to the presidential contenders based on today's statewide Presidential primary vote. A 5% threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates.
