Connecticut Primaries for Statewide offices and Congress

By Connecticut law, if fewer than two candidates qualify for the ballot, the primary is cancelled. On 19 December 2003, Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz announced that there would be no Republican Primary unless qualified Republican candidates petition onto the ballot. President George Bush will receive all of Connecticut's delegates.

Tuesday 2 March 2004 (cancelled): All 30 of Connecticut's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders in today's Connecticut Presidential Primary.

  • These 30 delegates are to be allocated to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes in the primary statewide.

The 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Connecticut's Republican Party, will by virtue of their position, attend the convention pledged to the winner of the primary.
