  • Member of Congress Matthew Louis "Matt" Gaetz, II (Republican, Florida, CD 1) resigned from the 118th Congress on 13 November 2024. He was reelected to the 119th Congress, but declined his seat.
  • Member of Congress Michael "Mike" Waltz (Republican, Florida, CD 6) resigned on 20 January 2025.
  • Member of Congress Sylvester Turner (Democratic, Texas, CD 18) died on 5 March 2025.
  • Member of Congress Raúl M. Grijalva (Democratic, Arizona, CD 7) died on 13 March 2025.
  • Member of Congress Jimmy Patronis, Jr. (Republican, Florida, CD 1) was elected on 1 April 2025 and sworn on TBD.
  • Member of Congress Adelita Grijalva (Democratic, Arizona, CD 7) was elected on 23 September 2025 and sworn on 12 November 2025.
  • Member of Congress Rebecca Michelle "Mikie" Sherrill (Democratic, New Jersey, CD 11) resigned on 20 November 2025 to become the Governor of New Jersey.
  • Member of Congress Christian Dashaun Menefee (Democratic, Texas, CD 18) was elected on 31 January 2026 and sworn on 3 February 2026.

The Governor is to call the special election for a U.S. House vacancy within 10 days of the vacancy and the special election is held 30 or more days later.
For special elections, all candidates (regardless of party) run in the primary. If 1 candidate receives a majority (50% + 1), that candidate wins. If no one receives a majority, the top 2 candidates the most votes advance to a special runoff 28 days later.

6 January 2026: Governor Brian Porter Kemp (Republican) called a special election to fill the vacant seat of former Member of Congress Marjorie Taylor Greene (Republican) who resigned on 5 January 2026. The Special Election is Tuesday 10 March 2026; the runoff, if necessary is Tuesday 7 April 2026.

Vacant Office - 4 November 2025: Member of Congress Mikie Sherrill (Democratic) is elected Governor. A 2026 Special Election will be called in CD 11 to fill the vacated U.S. House Seat.
12 November 2025: Announced she would resign from the US House but did not provide a date.
18 November 2025: Member of Congress Mikie Sherrill (Democratic) announced that she will resign from the U.S. House of Representatives at 11:59 p.m. Thursday 20 November 2025. She will become Governor on 20 January 2026.
21 November 2025: Governor Philip "Phil" Murphy (Democratic) called a Special Election to fill the vacant seat. The Special Partisan Primary is 5 February 2026 and the Special General Election is 16 April 2026. The filing deadline is 1 December 2025 for the primary and 5 February 2026 for independents.
