  • Member of Congress Michael "Mike" Waltz (Republican, Florida, CD 6) resigned on 20 January 2025.
  • Member of Congress Sylvester Turner (Democratic, Texas, CD 18) died on 5 March 2025.

Vacant Office - 13 March 2025: Member of Congress Raúl M. Grijalva (Democratic), 77, passed away from complications of lung cancer. He was first elected in 2002.
14 March 2025: Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs (Democratic) called a 23 September 2025 special election to fill the vacant seat of Member of Congress Raúl M. Grijalva. The primary is 15 July 2025.
 13 March 2025: Member of Congress Raúl M. Grijalva (Democratic), 77, passed away from complications of lung cancer. He was first elected in 2002.
For special elections, Arizona state law requires that the primary be held at least 120 days after the seat becomes vacant. The general election is held at least 70 days after the primary.
14 March 2025: Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs (Democratic) called a 23 September 2025 special election to fill the vacant seat of Member of Congress Raúl M. Grijalva. The candidate filing period for the partisan Primary and Independent General Election is 17 March 2025 to 14 April 2025. The deadline to file as a write-in candidate for the Primary is 5 June 2025. The primary is 15 July 2025. The deadline to file as a write-in candidate for the Special General Election is 14 August 2025.

I was offered an opportunity in the private sector ... today I notified ... the House of Representatives that I will resign from Congress as soon as the House votes ... on the reconciliation package ... there will be a special election to replace me ..."
4 July 2025: Member of Congress Mark E. Green (Republican) resigns effective 20 July 2025. "It's with a heavy heart that I say farewell."

State law gives Governor William "Bill" Lee (Republican) 10 days to call a Special Election. The primary is 50 to 55 days after the Special Election is called and the Special General Election is 50 to 55 days later. The estimated dates for the special primary is 7 October and the special general election is 2 December.
 Member of Congress Mark E. Green (Republican) who was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2020, 2022, and 2024 resigned on 20 July 2025. On 9 June 2025 he stated "It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from Congress ...  7 April 2025: Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) announces a 4 November 2025 Special Election to fill the vacant seat of former Member of Congress Sylvester Turner (Democratic), who passed away on 5 March 2025. The filing deadline is 3 September 2025. In Special Elections, all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, run on a single ballot. If one candidate receives a majority of the vote, that candidate is elected. Otherwise, the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff about 6 weeks later.

Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family...."
 28 April 2025: Member of Congress Connolly announced that his esophageal cancer has returned and he will not seek re-election.
21 May 2025: Member of Congress Gerald Edward "Gerry" Connolly (Democratic) passed away. "It is with immense sadness that we share that our devoted and loving father, husband, brother, friend, and public servant, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family...."
3 June 2025: Governor Glenn A. Youngkin (Republican) called a Special Election, to fill the seat of Member of Congress Gerald Edward "Gerry" Connolly (Democratic, Congressional District 11) who passed away on 21 May 2025. The election is 9 September 2025 and the filing deadline is 11 July 2025.
