6 April 2021: Member of Congress of Alcee L. Hastings (Democratic), 84, passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was first elected in 1992.
4 May 2021: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (Republican) called a special primary for 2 November 2021 and a special election for 11 January 2022. The filing deadlines are 3 August for petition candidates and 10 August for others.
