CD 2 {map}	Democratic	• Seat up for election: Tuesday 9 April 2013 • Special Election - On 26 November 2012, Governor Patrick "Pat" Quinn called a Special Election to fill the vacant seat of Congressman Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr. (Democratic) who resigned on 21 November 2012. The Special Primary is set for 26 February and Special Election for 19 March 2013. To comply with state law, the Governor set the election date to 19 March. However, Governor Quinn is working with the General Assembly to move the general election date to 9 April 2013, the same day as an already-scheduled election. On 3 December 2012, Governor Quinn signed a SB 3338 which moves the Special Election to 9 April. The new date coincides with an existing Chicago election.
