Should no candidate receive 50% of the vote in the Tuesday 4 November General Election, the two top vote-getters will participate in a Runoff to be held on Tuesday 18 November 2008. |

Tulafono (41.3%) and Utu Abe Malae (31.4%) proceed to a Tuesday 18 November 2008 runoff. The current Administration informally identifies itself with the US Democrats. The major opponents to the Sunia/Tulafono ticket in both 1996 and 2000 and to the Tulafono/Sunia ticket in 2004 identified themselves as "Independent" although they have ties to the US Republican Party. | |||||
