Tuesday 5 November 2002

Polls close: 6 PM Hawaiian Standard Time
(0400 UTC, Wed 6 Nov)

  • HAWAII is electing its Governor in 2002; this is an Open Chair, as incumbent Democrat Ben Cayetano is at term limit and, therefore, cannot run for re-election as Governor.
  • HAWAII is NOT electing either of its U.S. Senators in 2002.
  • HAWAII is electing 2 Members of Congress (U.S. House of Representatives) in 2002; the State did not gain nor lose a House seat as a result of the 2000 Census.
  • There are no House seats which will have incumbents running against one another in the General Election.

  • Members of Congress currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, 107th Congress not seeking re-election in the 5 November 2002 General Election from the State of HAWAII:

    None.

Open Seats [those in which an incumbent is not running for re-election] in the U.S. House from HAWAII in the 5 November 2002 General Election:

    None.

NOTE: Democrat Congresswoman Patsy Mink passed away on 28 September 2002 after having already been renominated in the 21 September Primary; although deceased, her name remains on the General Election ballot: should she be posthumously re-elected, a Special Election would then be called by the Governor to fill the resultant vacancy.
