Election 2008 - Primary Caucus and Convention Phase

On 22 July 2006 the National Democratic Party's Rules and Bylaws Committee
recommended the following 2008 schedule: Iowa Caucus 14 January 2008, Nevada
Caucus 19 January 2008, New Hampshire Primary 22 January 2008, South Carolina
Primary 29 January 2006, others beginning 5 February 2008.

The Democratic  National Committee approved this rule on 19 August 2006.

New Hampshire Supreme Court decision may postpone 12 September Primary

The New Hampshire Supreme Court has unanimously ruled unconstitutional a 1979
state law that requires the candidates of the party that received the most
total votes in the previous election to be listed first on the ballot for the
next election. The 12 September Primary ballots, already printed, may not be
valid.

The Tuscarawas Election Board has set a special Republican primary election
date of Thursday 14 September 2006 to select a replacement nominee for
Congressman Robert W. "Bob" Ney who withdrew his U.S. House Ohio CD 18
nomination on 14 August 2006. The filing deadline was Thursday 17 August 2006.
