Indiana - Primary

for U.S. Senate, 9 U.S. House Seats, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor,
Clerk of State Supreme Court  

Polls close at 6 PM local time (2200 UTC re: Eastern Time Zone; 2300 UTC
re: Central Time Zone)

Contested STATEWIDE races:

NOTE: Major Party candidates for the offices of Secretary of State, Treasurer,
and Auditor are not nominated via the 2 May Primary but, instead, will be
nominated at each Party's respective State Conventions per Indiana Code
3-8-4-2 which reads as follows--

(a) A political party shall conduct a state convention to nominate the
candidates of the political party for the following offices to be voted on at
the next general election:
  (1) Lieutenant governor.
  (2) Secretary of state.
  (3) Auditor of state.
  (4) Treasurer of state.
  (5) Attorney general.
  (6) Superintendent of public instruction.
(b) The convention shall also:
  (1) nominate candidates for presidential electors and alternate electors; and
  (2) elect the delegates and alternate delegates to the national
convention of the political party.

Democrats: Saturday 3 June 2006. 
Republicans: Monday 19 June thru Tuesday 20 June 2006. 

In addition, it appears that the Democratic candidate for the Class 1 United
States Senate seat will also be nominated at that Party's 3 June State
Convention.

but one candidate for a Party's nomination has withdrawn his/her candidacy
and, yet, may still appear on the Primary ballot.

President George W. Bush has nominated U.S. Trade Representative and former
Ohio Congressman Robert "Rob" Portman to be Director of the Office of
Management and Budget. Mr. Portman's nomination requires Senate confirmation.

The current Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Josh Bolten,
has become the White House Chief of Staff.

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab will be nominated for
U.S. Trade Representative.
