Rodriguez: 24,363, Henry Cuellar: 24,218). A recount, requested by Mr. Cuellar, was conducted 26 March through 1 April. The recount gave Henry Cuellar a 203 vote lead with most of the change coming from Webb and Zapata counties near Cuellar's home town. Irregularities surfaced with the discovery of previously untabulated votes in Zapata and additional votes in Webb. The certified vote as of 6 April 2004 is Henry Cuellar: 24,651, Ciro D. Rodriguez: 24,448.
