  • Congressman J. Dennis Hastert (Republican, Illinois, CD 14) announced his retirement on 17 August 2007 and resigned 26 November 2007.
  • Congressman Nicola Tsongas (Democrat, Massachusetts House CD 5) was elected 16 October 2007 to fill the vacant seat.
  • Congressman Martin T. "Marty" Meehan (Democrat, Massachusetts House CD 5) resigned 1 July 2007 to become Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
  • Congressman Juanita Millender-McDonald (Democrat, California CD 37) passed away 22 April 2007 at the age of 68 from cancer.
  • Congressman Charles Whitlow "Charlie" Norwood (Republican, Georgia CD 10) passed away 13 February 2007 at the age of 65 from lung and liver cancer.
  • Congressman Paul E. Gillmor (Republican, Ohio CD 5) passed away suddenly 5 September 2007 at the age of 68.
  • Congressman Jo Ann S. Davis (Republican, Virginia CD 1) passed away 6 October 2007 at the age of 57 from breast cancer.
  • Congressman Robert Latta (Republican, Ohio CD 5) was elected 11 December 2007 to fill the vacant seat.
  • Congressman Rob Wittman (Republican, Virginia CD 1) was elected 11 December 2007 to fill the vacant seat.
