On 2 August 2006, after learning that Republican donors contributed to the Green Party's signature gathering, the Democratic Party announced they will challenge the Green Party's ballot petitions. Two write-in candidates, Tony Barr and Stanley Hetz, are competing for the Democratic nomination in CD 9. Media reports state that a total of 1,296 write-in votes were cast. 1000 votes are needed to nominate. Write-in candidate Charles Dertinger received the necessary 1000 votes to secure the Democratic nomination in CD 15. |
